Slowing Down in January: Setting Intentions and Finding Joy with Flowers

As we step into 2026, we’re setting goals and getting things done while remembering it’s okay if we don’t get to everything. We’re planning things to look forward to, keeping self care at the top of the list, setting our intentions, and then releasing them to the universe.

What the Rudy’s team is doing for self care this month

Lea & Marissa (our Gen Z’s)

“We’re busy setting goals, creating Pinterest vision boards, going to Lee’s Chicken and 7 Brew, being dirty soda connoisseurs, and living our best life.”

Brittany

(our Millennial)

“It’s a big planning season and I’m making space for the little things and scheduling things to look forward to. Weekly facials, favorite coffee shop dates, and an Avatar movie night.”

Mackenzie

(our Millennial)

“I’m making time for massages, weekly yoga, soaking in sunlight where I can, and creating vision boards for 2026.”

Have a wonderful start of 2026 and we can’t wait to continue serving our community with flowers as your St. Louis florist! Find us back at the flower trucks this spring at your local brunch spots and coffee shops. In the meantime, we offer flower deliveries Monday - Saturday and same-day shipping if you order before noon. We’re so grateful for how our community shows up for our small business and we strive to continue showing up for you too! With flowers, of course. :)

XoXo,

The Rudy’s Team

A Reflection Letter From A Women Owned St. Louis Business Owner

A Letter From The Owner

Rudy’s started from both a place of desperation and hope. I was 27 years old with a new baby and a 6 year old. I was working at a nonprofit in St. Louis and was on maternity leave. I knew something had to change. I needed to provide for both of my daughters and have a schedule that would allow me to still somewhat be their sole caretaker. I was looking for remote jobs when click bait struck and I stumbled across an article headlined “10 mobile business ideas out of food truck”. I had no business clicking that article but I did. Scrolling, I found a florist on wheels and was immediately intrigued. I became obsessed actually with the idea of bringing St. Louis’ first mobile flower shop to life. So obsessed in fact, that I put a bid in on ebay for a 1962 jeep truck three weeks later. When I woke up the next day I had won the bid. I was excited but then quickly realized I didn’t have the $3K to buy the truck and had to beg 3 of my family members to loan me $1,000 each. They said they didn’t think it would work but they’d do it anyway. And here we are 8 years later.

The original eBay listing photo of Rudy, St. Louis’ first mobile flower truck!

I knew St. Louis would work. I knew the city and its residents would love the truck and this idea as much as me. Why? How can you not! Flowers make everything better. They bring so much joy to those giving and receiving. And coming from a social work background it was important for me to do something that felt like giving back. I thought what a beautiful thing to give to the city. It’s my contribution. Rudy’s as a whole is my love letter to the city in a way. How much value can we add to people’s lives by making flowers more accessible and fun through the flower truck concept. Alot. It’s been 8 years and I’m incredibly grateful that we’re still here.

Rudy still as a baby flower truck, before the top covering and flower bucket shelving were added. This photo was taken during one of our early-on spring flower truck shifts in St. Louis.

2025 has been a rough year. Every year provides its own set of challenges but this year not only has business declined but the world has seemed to be on fire and in a constant state of chaos. I’ve thought about shutting down. My girls are 8 and 15 now and while people say it’s hard having babies, let me tell you it doesn’t get any easier as they get older. They need me more now than ever and so does the business. And as I've reflected and sat with some pretty difficult emotions over the last 3 months I realized we can’t. I can’t shut down. This is the time when finding the beauty in life’s simple pleasures matters most. We need reminders of beauty and positivity to keep going.

Rudy’s as it stands today, in all it’s flower beauty glory

So even though the trucks are closed for the season we’ll still keep going and be back open come this spring. Until then you can shop our flower delivery service or stop by our studio during the week.

We’d love to see you,

Brittany

Where to place Thanksgiving florals

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It’s the only holiday that isn’t focused on gifts. It’s the holiday meant for gathering. For connecting. For catching up. For reflecting. Every year we think of new designs to incorporate into our Thanksgiving lineup. We think that flowers set the stage for any gathering. With Thanksgiving being the one holiday a year where the focus is solely on connection, the elements to this gathering are important. Creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere can change how your guests interact with one another. Here are a few ideas on what floral arrangements to select and where to place them for the biggest impact.

Choose the right piece for the right location. It’s the most important rule for creating a space that flows well together for your guests.

Wanting to make a statement as soon as guests arrive? Place our Grand Garden Arrangement on the entry table. Its height makes it a statement piece, leaving guests asking “Where did you get these flowers from?”.

Our long & lows are great for long table gatherings. They are stunning in their size and design. Height is key here. You want guests to be able to see each other while conversing. This design is low and close to the table. The unique design makes it a true conversation starter. Placing these at the dinner table is sure to have guests asking again “Where did you say you got these flowers?”.

Shown here is our bud vases trio, mini garden arrangement, & the mini paired with grand garden.

Spaces that get less attention but are as equally deserving of flowers include the kitchen & bathrooms. Yes, the prep is happening in the kitchen. Yes, it’s packed. But isn’t that where lots of us are spending our time. And then we know the guests follow into the kitchen with their drinks in hand to see if the host needs help. We suggest adding a small touch of flowers with our mini garden arrangement. It’s the perfect size for a kitchen sink window or kitchen island. Try adding one or three of our bud vases to the guest bathroom. Placing them on the top of the toilet, sink, and windowsill to adds an unexpected touch of elegance.

Spooky Roses for Halloween

Spooky season is upon us and what better way to celebrate than with black magic roses. They’re the perfect Halloween bouquet.

Does Halloween call for flowers? Absolutely! When our buyer brought these roses to our attention we knew we had to get them for you. Our incredible Black Magic Roses are more stunning in person. They have an almost velvet touch. They are versatile in that you can make them spooky, cute, or sophisticated depending on how you choose to style them.

Not sure what you want to do yet? Order the classic wrapped bunch.

Wanting something more cutesy? Do the roses with the lavender ceramic vase.

Feeling spooky? Add the orange ribbed vase. This was our team’s favorite way to display them!

Shown displayed in orange ribbed vase and as a classic wrap.
